Farmer's Market
In 1784, a new tax required anyone riding a horse for leisure to pay 10 shillings. In protest, a local man named Jonathan Thatcher famously rode his cow to Stockport Market. Markets have long been at the heart of Stockport. In 1260, the village was granted its charter, officially becoming a town with the right to hold weekly markets and annual fairs. These gatherings were the lifeblood of medieval trade, drawing farmers, artisans, and craftspeople from across the region.
For one day only, we’re bringing that spirit back.
Join us for a Farmers Market in the Robinsons Brewery courtyard on Sunday, 8th June, celebrating the best of local produce.

An Evening with Ignasi Segui of Vinyes Singulars
Join us for a very special evening with Ignasi Segui, the 22nd generation of his family to farm the same land in Alt Penedès, Catalonia. In a region best known for industrial Cava, Ignasi’s work stands apart — a patient, expressive practice rooted in tradition. Since founding Vinyes Singulars in 2009, he’s been quietly cultivating a new identity for this historic estate, where vines share space with cereal crops, olive trees, vegetable gardens and forest. Certified organic since 2010, every part of the land is part of a broader ecosystem.
Perched at 500–600m altitude in the higher reaches of the region, the vines grow on limestone and clay soils, benefitting from hot Mediterranean days and cool nights softened by winds off the Balearic Sea. With more than 30 cuvées made annually in tiny quantities, each from a single parcel, Ignasi treats each vineyard as its own story to be told.
This is a rare opportunity to taste a selection of these distinctive wines in the company of the grower himself. We’ll explore several of his cuvées, paired with a seasonal menu from the kitchen at Where The Light Gets In. Expect a generous, informal evening of conversation, discovery, and plenty of wine.
